How to use the Computer Catalog?
Our Online-Catalog offers you various search options:
It provides access by authors, titles and subjects,
as well as by combinations of these approaches. Further it will indicate
call numbers and locations.
It provides information on books and other library materials available at
almost all University Libraries of Austria, not only Linz!
You can type one or more search terms into one ore more fields. All search
terms are automatically combined with the logical operator "and".
For subject search use the Online-list of descriptors, or the classification
scheme near the OPAC-Terminals.
Use not more than three or four search terms when you enter the search.
Use the * or the ? Key as a truncation symbol: e.g.: organization?
= organizations, organizational ...
There is a folder in English language with detailed information.

Papers online
- Working papers from the National Bureau of Economic Research (NBER) are available and can be downloaded from a JKU address.
- Working papers from the Centre for Economic Policy Research (CEPR), most are not directly downloadable.
- Working papers from the Institute for the Future of Labor (IZA), downloadable.
- Working papers from the Social Science Research Network (SSRN), mostly downloadable.
- Working papers from the Center for Economic Studies & Ifo Institute for Economic Research (CESifo), downloadable.
- Research Papers in Economics (RePEC), mostly downloadable working papers.

on this service is available at the circulation desk.
There is usually a charge ranging from EUR 3.63 to 13.08 (sometimes even
more!) for an article obtained from another library.
Locating the needed book or periodical title in another library and requesting
it may take up to four weeks. The loan period is usually three weeks.
Before requesting an Interlibrary Loan, be sure your bibliographic information
is accurate and complete. If in doubt, consult a librarian for assistance.
Check the Catalogs of the University Library of Linz to be sure the item
is not in the collection!
Computer Assisted Reference Service
Many individual databases may be searched by computer. The result of a
search is a printed bibliography listing authors, titles, publishers, dates,
often accompanied by an abstract or summary of the cited source.
The service ist available to faculty, staff and graduate students without
charges. For all other persons charges vary according to the database searched,
amount of computer time used, and number of citations printed. A search
typically costs about EUR 70,-.
