Structure of the previous Diplomstudium B&E

• First study stage: 3 semesters (largely pre-structured and for all WIWI students the same basic training)
• Second study stage: 5 semesters. In this stage you can compose your own study program according to your personal and job interests. You can choose freely from a diverse range of Economics modules and Economics specialization modules, which reflects the specific competences of Linz's Economics Department. One module consists of 8 Semester hours per week and one specialization module consists of 16 hours per week.

A special feature of this design is that at the beginning of the second study stage you do not have to choose a specific major yet, i.e. Economics or Business Administration. Instead, you simply complete freely chosen modules and specialization modules. If at the end it turns out that your selection modules constitutes a specific major (business administration, international business administration, economics or e-business management) you get a degree in this major, otherwise you will get a core degree in Economics.
